Little Owl Wins Double Gold at the 2026 London Wine Competition

London, United Kingdom, 22nd of April 2026 – For Immediate Release

Little Owl has claimed a "Double Gold" medal at the 2026 International London Wine Competition scoring 97 points, and also "Best Wine By Package" and "Wine Of The Year Greece" Awards. The win marks a strong endorsement from one of the industry's most commercially-minded judging panels, which evaluates wines not just on taste, but on value for money and shelf appeal, factors that actually drive purchase decisions.

About the Competition

Now in its ninth year, the International London Wine Competition judges each entry across three weighted criteria — Quality, Value, and Packaging. This produces a score that reflects how a wine performs in the real world, not just in a tasting room. Entries are first blind-tasted by a panel of active trade professionals, including wine buyers, Master Sommeliers, and Masters of Wine, before price and packaging are factored in.

Medals are awarded based on a weighted composite score derived from the competition's three core judging criteria: Quality, Value, and Packaging.

To reflect the importance of how the wine tastes and performs in the glass, Quality is given double weight in the final score calculation. This approach ensures that while all three criteria are important, the drinking experience remains the most critical factor, while still accounting for price positioning and shelf appeal.

The International London Wine Competition is judged by a panel of leading wine buyers with current commercial buying experience, or wine consultants and experts directly involved in developing new wine brands or purchasing wines for resale. Judges represent a diverse range of channels and disciplines, including multiple retailers, convenience stores, distributors, on-trade groups, casual and fine dining establishments, hospitality, and the travel industry.

In Their Own Words

"We are thrilled to hear Little Owl performed strongly at this year's London Wine Competition" said Elliott Vavitsas, Founder of Little Owl Wines. He added that "we extend our gratitude to the judges for recognising the efforts of our team, including our production and design partners who helped us create a product that allows all to enter and experience the world of Greek wine".

Commenting on the competition, Beverage Trade Network CEO and London Wine Competition organiser Sid Patel said, "Our goal with the London Wine Competition is simple—to identify wines that consumers will buy and that trade buyers will want to list. It's not just about great taste, it's about real commercial success."
